Eunice Barbara Aaskov, 94, formerly of Slemons Road and Codman Street
in Portland, passed away peacefully after a long illness on July 9, 2011, at
Springbrook Nursing Care Facility in Westbrook.

Barbara was born on June 16, 1917 in Westbrook.   She attended Portland
schools and graduated from Deering High School in 1935.  She married Ralph
Emerson Aaskov, the love of her life, on April 12, 1941.

Barbara was a stay-at-home mom while her three children were growing up.
In later years, she worked at Pratt Abbott and retired from Unum.

The family wishes to thank the caring and professional staffs of Park
Danforth, Springbrook, and Beacon Hospice for their compassion and support.

The family welcomed friends on July 13 followed by a celebration of life service at Jones, Rich & Hutchins
Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. The family
had a private graveside service in Maine Veterans
Memorial Cemetery where
Barbara was laid to rest beside her husband, Ralph.

Louise Delafield, of Winnocks Neck Road, formerly of Boothbay Harbor, passed
peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House
after a battle with pancreatic cancer which began in October of 2008.

She was born in McKeesport, Pa., on Jan. 22, 1944. 
She graduated from Boothbay Region High School, class of 1962.  Louise worked
for an insurance agency for 11 years before joining the then Unionmutual in 1974,
retiring after 25 years as Manager of Corporate Relocation.
Louise married Vincent 'Gig' Balzano in 1992.

At her request there were no services.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to:

Jean Leighton Doane, 74, a long time resident of Tuttle Road in Cumberland, passed  away quietly in her home
on June 26, 2011.  She was surrounded by her loving family
and care givers and left this world comfortably and
at peace.
 

Jean was born in Yarmouth and was valedictorian of Greely Institute's class of 1954.
  At Bates College she was
elected Phi Beta Kappa and graduated with High Honors in
1958.   After graduation Jean worked for several
years for Union Mutual.
  Jean is survived by her husband of 52 years, Richard Wyman Doane.
Memorial services were held  June 30, 2011, at the North Yarmouth Congregational
Church.  In lieu of flowers,

Rita L. Farda, 63, of Arundel, formerly of Biddeford, died peacefully on June 22, 2011, with her family at her side.
She was born December 6, 1947,
in Portland.  She graduated from Windham High School in 1966.
On March 17, 1967, she married Thomas F. Farda in Gorham. 

She worked as a secretary with Unum from 1965 to 1970.
Rita is survived by her husband of 44 years, Thomas F. Farda of Arundel,
formerly Biddeford. 
Visiting hours were held June 24, 2011 at Hope Memorial Chapel.
  A funeral service was celebrated at the funeral
home.  Burial was at the Scarborough
Memorial Cemetery.

Nancy Anne Kane died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011 in Portland surrounded by her
family after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Nancy was born in
Portland on July 12,1961. 

She was raised in Gorham and graduated from Gorham
High School in 1979.
She received her bachelor degree in Art Education from the
University of
Maine in 1984.

Nancy began her teaching career in special education working in both Gorham
and Portland. She taught Art at Auburn and Sanford Middle Schools. She continued
her career working at Sappi Technology and Unum.

Visiting hours were held Oct. 4 at Dolby & Dorr Funeral Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Oct. 5
at St. Anne Church, Main Street, Gorham.  Internment followed
at Eastern Cemetery, Gorham.  In lieu of flowers,

Amos Joseph Link
, 75, passed away Feb. 5, 2011 at the Maine Veteran's Home in Scarborough.  
He was born on
August 14, 1935 in South Portland.  He was educated in South Portland schools
and attended SMVTI after a stint
in the United States Air Force.

Amos worked and retired from the Public Works Department in South Portland.  After retirement he worked as a
Security Officer at Unum and Disney World.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene A. Link of South Portland, of 52 years.  A
Memorial Visitation was held
Feb. 9 at the Hobbs Funeral Home, South Portland.  Interment
was in Highland Memorial Cemetery, South Portland.

Cynthia Ann Michaud
, 37, of North Waterboro, died on Jan. 4, 2011, at her
residence. 
She was born on Jan. 15, 1973, in Westbrook. . Cynthia was educated
 locally and was a 1991 graduate of Portland
High School.  Cynthia was employed
at Wright Express for three years; Pierce Promotions; and she also previously
worked for Unum.

Visiting hours were held Jan. 7, at Conroy-Tully Crawford  South Portland Chapel.  A funeral service was held on
Saturday, Jan. 8, at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church
in Portland.  Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery,
South Portland.

Marion Louise Morton
, 81, a former long-time Windham resident, died on Oct. 10, 2011,
at Country Village
Assisted Living in Casco.  She was born in Westbrook on March 3,
1930.  She was raised and educated in
Gorham and was a 1948 graduate of Gorham
High School.

Marion was employed for the Union Mutual Insurance Company of Portland for seven
years before becoming
a full-time home-maker.
  Her husband, George P. Morton Jr., predeceased her on Sept. 8, 2004.
A visiting hour was held  Oct. 15, 2011, followed by a funeral service at the Dolby
Funeral Chapel in Windham.  
Burial was on the family lot at Hillside Cemetery, Gorham.

Jennie H. Norton
, 55, of Hope Valley, R.I., died from cancer on Aug. 20, 2011, at
home surrounded by family
and friends.  She was born in New York City in 1956.
  Jennie was previously married to Russell Correia of
Portland.
  Raised in Essex, Conn., Jennie graduated from The Williams School, Colby Sawyer College, and
Barry University.  She worked at Unum in Portland in various roles.
  Most recently Jennie worked for
Beacon Mutual Insurance.

There was a celebration of Jennie's life on Aug. 28  at Dunn's Corners Community
Church, Westerly, R.I. 
Arrangements were made by the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island.

Scott Michael Osgood, 52, of Scarborough, died at Maine Medical Center in Portland
on July 3, 2011, after a brief illness.  He was born in Millinocket on Jan. 10, 1959
.

Scott graduated from Schenck High School in East Millinocket in 1977 and from UMO
 in 1981 with a B.S. in Political Science.

Scott worked at Unum  since 1995 and was proud to be part of the Company and the
work in disability insurance he did there.  He displayed a kindness and compassion to
clients who needed his assistance.

Visiting hours were held at the Lindquist Funeral Home, Yarmouth.  A Mass of
Christian
Burial was held July 7 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yarmouth. Burial,
East Millinocket Cemetery.

Doris Jean Stewart Pennoyer, M.D., 83, of Portland died on September 4, 2011 at
home surrounded by her entire family following a lengthy illness.  She is survived
by her devoted husband Douglass C. Pennoyer, M.D.  They celebrated their 60th
wedding anniversary just recently.

Doris was born August 14, 1928 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.  She attended Smith
College where she majored in mathematics.  She graduated from medical school
at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons graduating in 1954.

She was Associate Medical Director and Second Vice President for Union Mutual
Life Insurance Company from 1975 through 1980.

It was her request that there be no public service.  In lieu of flowers, donations
in her memory may be sent to the Columbia University College of Physicians and
Surgeons Medical School Scholarship Fund.

Susan E. Pinkham
, 58, passed away on June 1, 2011, in Florida, after a short
 illness.  She was born in Maine
on Aug. 7, 1952.  Susan attended Buxton schools
and graduated from Fryeburg Academy.

For 28 years, Susan was an employee of Unum and was most recently a supervisor
of short-term disability
benefits.
  Susan is survived by her husband, Carroll 'Mac' McLaskey of Merritt Island, Fla.

A memorial service was held on June 23, at Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home
in Buxton (Bar Mills).  
Burial will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in South
Portland.

Gregory 'Greg' Dwight Schlieper of Gorham passed away unexpectedly at his home
at the age of 49 on Oct. 13, 2011.  Greg was born in Nuremberg, Germany on
August 30, 1962.

Growing up, he attended schools in Maine, Pennsylvania, Texas and Massachusetts
while his father served in the Army.  A graduate of Ayer High School in Ayer, Mass.,
he attended the University of Southern Maine where he earned his Bachelor's Degree
in Criminal Justice, Sociology and History.  After graduating, he served as a Police
Officer for the Lisbon Falls and South Portland Police Departments.  He later became
an employee of Unum where he worked as a Disability Chief Underwriter for 26 years.
Greg is survived by his partner, Anne Dionne of Gorham.

Calling hours were held at the Brackett Funeral Home, Brunswick, on Oct. 19th. 
Services
were  private.

In lieu of flowers, his family respectfully requests donations be made in his honor to one of the following

as he had personal connections to each.
