Who Ever Said Retirement is Boring

By Cindy Baratta

My husband Nick and I retired to Florida 12 years ago.  I really have no idea where the time has gone as it only seems like yesterday.

Since our retirement Nick continues to work on his golf game maintaining a zero handicap.  He has been our Country Club Champion for 11
consecutive years.  Although my golf game has improved, my time has been busy in other areas.

I spent 7 ½ years as a member of a K9 Forensic Recover Team here in Florida.  Our team was a totally volunteer group that consisted of
4 law enforcement deputies and 2 civilians.  Our mission was to find human remains and help bring closure to the family's involved.  Our
team has been to Aruba to search for Natalee Holloway.  We spent a very sad week searching for Jessica Lunsford who was found only
30 miles from where we all live.  One K9 team spent two weeks at the 9th ward in New Orleans after Katrina hit.

When our team retired, I continued to be involved in K9 Obedience.  Today I work with my Great Dane "Bella" as volunteers with Michelle Melady's Dog Training.
We also spend time with our Seniors at various nursing homes.  And yes, 3 times per week I play golf with Nick and friends.

Life sure is good in Florida and Retirement has certainly been exciting to say the least.
