If you know of any recent retirees who may not be aware of the organization, please let them know about us and

Thank you to all who came to the picnic in June. The next luncheon is scheduled for September 27 at The Italian 
Heritage on Congress Street in Portland. More details will come in an invitation in August. 

We decided to repeat the mailing to soldiers in Afghanistan. Thanks to your generosity, the Unum Retirees will be 
sending boxes of goodies to soldiers in the war zone. Many of our members brought items to the picnic. Members 
of the board are meeting in July to pack the boxes and mail them. 

We need more board members as a few people have decided to “retire” from service. Please consider joining us 
for a future meeting with the board to get a sense of what we do. We all share in the work and the work is relatively 
low stress. You can come to check it out without any obligation or pressure. Our future 2011 meetings are 
September 6 and November 15. All meetings are in HO III and start at 10:30. After the meetings, those who can, 
go out for a light lunch. Please let me know if you are coming so we can inform security. 

We are looking for your feedback about our activities.  Please email me with any comments or suggestions about 
how we can make the organization a better one. Have a great summer.
