The Maine Chapter, National Multiple Sclerosis Society provides programs and services for
approximately 3,000 families living with MS. This is nearly one in every 400 Maine residents who
have MS, a per capita rate approximately 70% higher than the nation as a whole. Our entire staff
and volunteer network is dedicated to helping people affected by MS through education, referral
to community resources, advocacy, peer support groups, financial assistance, care management,
and more.
The Maine Chapter calls on the Unum retirees to assist with mailings and other small projects to
help defray costs of our chapter, freeing more funds to go toward research and local services. To
help create a world free of MS by volunteering please contact Beverly Dahms at 839-4371 or email

This has been very rewarding and the non-profits are so thankful for our help.  If anyone is interested
in joining the phone tree, we would love to have your help.  We usually have 3-4 days notice from the
organization and can always use more hands.  Please give me a call or e-mail.
