UNUM RETIREES ~ Volunteers

by Beverly J. Dahms

The Unum Retirees have been contacted by Big Brother Big Sisters of Southern Maine to assist them with their
Big Big Book Sale
on March 19th & 20th.   We wanted to feature them in our newsletter to bring awareness of their
 involvement in the community.

Enriching the Lives of Southern Maine’s Children…

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine is focused on helping children discover their potential and find their places in society.
Through the nurturing guidance of an adult mentor, every child can achieve and become an active and productive member of the
community. It is our mission to ensure that children in Southern Maine who are in need of caring mentors are given this opportunity.

Mission Statement

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people, focusing
on prevention, primarily through professionally supported one-to-one relationships with volunteers, enriching their lives and our community.

Program Summary

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine is affiliated with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, a national federation of organizations
serving children, families and communities. With offices located at 195 Lancaster Street, Portland and at the North Dam Mill at 2 Main Street
(Suite 17 - 301C) in Biddeford, our program matches area children —"Littles” — with adult "Bigs” who act as mentors by providing friendship,
support and guidance during the critical childhood and adolescent years.
