Shirley Irene (Pettey) Donahue passed away peacefully from this stage of life at the age
of 85, on Jan. 10, 2011, at Maine Medical Center.

Shirley was born on Aug. 27, 1925, in South Portland.  Raised in Portland, she graduated
from Portland High School in 1942 and met her future husband, John A. Donahue at a
USO function.


Shirley retired from UNUM with 25 years of service.  She often chuckled wondering if
UNUM realized they would pay her pension for more than 25 years.

 

A funeral service was held on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011.  Interment will be in the Spring in Forest City Cemetery.

Patricia (Patty) Levasseur, 67, passed away on Dec. 20, 2010, after a lengthy
illness, surrounded by loves, at the Gosnell Hospice in Scarborough

Patricia was born in Portland on Aug. 15, 1943.  Growing up in Portland's
West End, she attended St. Dominic's School and graduated from Cathedral
High School. 

In 1961 she married David Levasseur of Portland.  They had three children
and remained in Portland

 


During the first part of her career she worked a variety of jobs including with Union Mutual.  In the mid-80s
Patricia found her true calling in life when she began working as a spiritualist.  She became a Reiki Master
and began teaching, training, consulting, and working in several manners of the healing arts.

She is survived by her ex-husband, friend and caretaker, David Levasseur of Portland.  Her funeral service
 took place at the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel on Dec. 27.


Carl Lester Loeffel passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 7, 2010.
 

He was born on Oct. 20, 1936, in New Haven, Conn.  He grew up in West Haven,
Conn.  Carl married Nancy Guy and moved to Maine in 1967. 

After graduating from Trinity College in 1958, Carl devoted nearly half a century to
his actuary career.  Companies including Fireman's Fund, Unum, Equitable, and
most recently the State of Maine benefited from his expertise.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Nancy.

Visiting hours were held on Nov. 11, at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., in South Portland. 
A funeral service was held on Nov. 12, at Saint Albans Episcopal Church.


Gladys M. Wildes, 85, formerly of Scarborough Terrace, died Feb. 11, 2011,
at the South Portland Nursing Home. 

She was born in Portland on March 2, 1925.

She attended local schools and graduated from Portland High School in the class
of 1942.

In November of 1943 Gladys married Lewis Blaisdell Wildes Jr. and together they
made their home and raised their family on Munjoy Hill, Portland.

Gladys worked many years as an office clerk for Unum Insurance Company before retiring in 1988. 

She was predeceased by her husband.

A graveside service will be held in the Spring at Forest City Cemetery, South Portland.

172 State St., Portland.
